College Counseling

Long Term Success & Happiness

Choosing the right college can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. All students receive personal attention and an in-depth college dive so that the college they choose is the perfect fit for them based on student interests and desired campus life. Whether you choose a large public campus or a smaller independent private college, you will feel empowered that the decision you make is best for you and your long-term success and happiness.

At the beginning of each year and several times throughout the year, students will meet with an advisor who will guide them as they begin to settle into their courses and establish themselves as lifelong learners at Campbell Hall School for Girls. The advisor will meet with students in small groups and individually to clarify personal interests and set goals in anticipation of the formal college counseling and application process.

For more information regarding our process, attend one of our information sessions as they become available.

Overview by Grade Year

9TH GRADE

Students in 9th grade focus on settling into new routines and exploring their personal interests as they navigate a new learning environment. They will have access to an advisor and engage with information regarding college counseling in anticipation of their formal application process.

10TH GRADE

In grade 10, students are formally introduced to the college process and connected with platforms to facilitate success. Students are strongly encouraged to take both the PSAT and the ACT practice tests to determine which test is a better fit.

11th GRADE

Throughout the year, students and parents will have opportunities to attend several information sessions on the application process, and should start visiting college campuses to make informed decisions. Students also meet with their advisor in a one-to-one session following the October SAT sitting. Don’t worry, we will guide you every step of the way.

12TH GRADE

During the senior year, students answer “personal insight questions” and meet more regularly with their advisor. Counseling sessions become more important than ever as students finalize their college lists, apply for financial aid, submit applications, and eagerly await college decisions. This list is not exhaustive; students will need to complete other tasks.
